Yeah, Sean Astin!

Sean Astin answers a question about The Goonies 2; and “bang/marry/kill” with Galadriel, Arwen and Eowyn!

Hey all!

Run 3rd is an international community running club developed by actor and athlete Sean Astin, who has been an inspiration to me since I was old enough to watch the Lord of the Rings and to understand Rudy. Sean developed Run 3rd as a way to share something he is passionate about -…

Billy Boyd and Sean Astin at Fantasy CON in Salt Lake City, Utah 2014 talking about Billy’s band, beecake. A funny discussion about Love and LoveRock.

fantasycon:

During FantasyCon 2014 this little boy talked about how much he loved Sean Astin (LOTR’s Samwise), but unfortunately did not have enough money to get an autograph. Someone over heard this story and approached Sean Astin to inform him on the matter. With the good of his heart, Sean, came out from his booth and went to find this boy. He sat down and had a conversation with him, making this young man’s dreams come true. This is what we would describe as one of FantasyCon’s most memorable moments!

Yes, Sean Astin is like this. <3

This picture is what inspired me to get back on the horse to lose weight & how I discovered RunDisney. Focus on the lifestyle you want, not the weight loss. This looks so alive, vibrant, energetic & full of life. This is the active lifestyle I’m going for & am in the process of getting. Because of this picture I did my personal Zumba challenge last year & I did the Color Run, my first 5k & I dropped from around 240 after Jackie got hit to 152 (my lowest weight since PCOS kicked in).
I’m sure I said all this before but it bears repeating. Last week I got to meet Sean Astin at Fantasy Con & tell him what this picture meant to me & how it inspired me. He’s the nicest guy. He asked what I did to lose as much as I have at this point & I said Zumba. He pointed out that I had to have changed my diet too which of course I did. But normally people don’t want to hear the extremes I have had to through to lose anything. I didn’t tell him how I gave up pasta, rice (ok sometimes I have sushi but I pay for it), potatoes & lastly bread. I completely forgot to say anything about the newly discovered gluten sensitivity & how I had to give that up too. My diet used to be mostly carbs, now it’s fruits & vegetables with nuts, poultry, seafood, or beans for protein most of the time. I should be at goal by now. I would have been long ago if I didn’t have PCOS.
I didn’t want to hold up the line so I didn’t go into that I have PCOS, which makes it extremely hard to lose weight. I didn’t want to point out that my mother lost 65 pounds in a year on the exact same diet I have except she drank Pepsi & had candy. I’m on year 9. Mom doesn’t have any PCOS symptoms by the way. I liken losing weight with PCOS to the scene in The Lord of The Rings movies where the Black Gates are shut & the only way now is the narrow steep stairs up the mountain. It’s steep, it’s hard & if you fall, you fall back down quite a ways. So this picture & what it’s inspired me to do is big. I’m going to say it’s even bigger than if I was a normal person trying to loss weight. But he doesn’t know all that, he was just super nice & very happy for the progress I have made.
Oh & being on year 9 of my weight loss journey? I didn’t make any progress really for years until I saw this picture. Like I said, it meant a lot to me. For the record it’s not omg it’s THAT GUY, my favorite fangirl sqeeeeeeeee kind of thing. It’s wow. That looks fun. He looks happy. With energy. ( Which I was sorely lacking at the time) and that’s DISNEY (yes, that’s the fangirl part) and what is he doing? What is RunDisney?! I MUST DO THIS THING. And every time I falter? I think of this picture. Like a load stone it helps me focus on the lifestyle I want. That kind of energy. That kind of happiness.
I teared up after I walked away from telling Sean Astin what this picture meant to me. Because it does mean a lot. He did this for me, inspired me just be being himself, being healthy & happy. So folks, be awesome too. You never know who you’re inspiring & they might be crawling up the mountain & need a little light & encoragement too.
